What is Video Production?

There are varieties of video production ranging from commercials, videography for weddings and occasions, documentaries, corporate training videos, internet video clips for client’s websites, short films and independent films, high budget Hollywood Film Industry (I worked on this film and you can see a preview), and the many areas video can lend itself into new arenas. For example, one new media for video are articles online assimilated with a video snippet about the subject or subjects for the articles content.  Youtube is just an example of new video production, but no matter what the level of a video project there are 9 simple steps followed by all:

Did you know what the nine general steps for video production are? If you do or if you don’t they are: Industry standards define the process as script design or concept as the beginning of video production all the way to the final edited version of the production company’s creation process down to the advertising and placement of the product, be it in theatres, DVD’s, online to sell, or any market venue for the media created such as a television commercial.

First and foremost is a budget … what is your budget to do your production and what is your media format?

Second, you step into script design or purchasing of a script you like.

Third, you evaluate your budget covering casting, labor, camera-video-audio-lighting-wiring-transportation-lodging-food-and all necessary production costs.

Fourth, you proceed into casting and labor from the director and producer down to the freelancers and unions involved in the process.

Fifth you get into renting and purchasing aspects for the production plan.

Sixth you start shooting your production plan based on script, casting, production, and director and producer goals.

Seventh, after shooting all aspects in production, you step into the post production phase handling editing and piecing together your media with graphics, titles, scenes, special effects, etc…

Eighth is the collaboration for marketing.

Ninth is the presentation of the media being the easiest piece of the whole puzzle.
